MEETING OF INTERNATIONAL SOLAR CYCLE STUDIES: WORKING GROUP 1:
Solar Energy Flux Study: From the Interior to the Outer Layer
Coordinators: Claus Frohlich and Judit Pap
Nagoya, Japan; July 11, 1998
CALL FOR PAPERS
The ISCS Working Group 1 "Solar Energy Flux Study: From the Interior to the Outer Layer" of the International Solar Cycle Study (ISCS) will have its first meeting on July 11, 1998, just before the COSPAR meeting in Nagoya, Japan. This 1-day meeting will be a joint meeting with the two other ISCS Working Groups. ISCS WG1 will present three review papers: Total and Spectral Irradiance Variations and their Climate Effect (C. Frohlich and J. Pap), UV Irradiance Variations and their Effect on the Earth Atmosphere (L. Floyd), and Particle Energy Flux Variations and their Effect on the Earth's Atmosphere (D. Winningham ). In addition to these review papers, we call for contributed poster papers. The main goal of this 1-day meeting is to develop research plans and collaboration between scientists within the next 5 years of operation of ISCS.
The main objective of ISCS's Working Group 1 is to coordinate and support comprehensive international research of the variations in the solar energy flux during the rising portion and maximum of solar cycle 23. ISCS WG1 "Solar Energy Flux Study: From the Interior to the Outer Layer" has been divided into three working groups:
These working groups will be concerned about measurements of the solar energy flux, analysis of the measurements, modeling the measured changes, interpreting the results and study the climate effect of solar variability.
If you need further information on ISCS WG1 and/or you would like to participate in its work, please contact either Claus Frohlich (claus@obsun.pmodwrc.ch) or Judit Pap (pap@sec.noaa.gov).
